I'm pleased to offer this beautiful set of 4 early glass pedestal glasses. This set has 4 different patterns that date from the 1840's to 1870's. The first antique goblet was made by Flint between 1855 and 1875 and is discount named Magnet & Grape with Frosted Leaf. The second goblet was also made Flint between 1840 and 1860 is is named Ribbed Ivy. The third goblet is also a Flint design created between 1840 and 1860 in a cameo and garland design. The last goblet was made by McGill during the same time period but I was unable to located the pattern name. Each piece is made from heavy glass. I purchased this set from an estate sale in Galena, IL where the family came from the east coast in the later 1800's. What a beautiful set to display.
Date: Antique -Mid 1800's
Measurements:
Flint - Magnet & Grape with Frosted Leaf: 3 1/2" in diameter (at base), 6 1/4'' in height
Flint - Ribbed Ivy - 3 1/2" in diameter, 5 5/8" in height
Flint - Cameo and Garland - 3 1/2" in diameter, 5 3/4" in height
McGill - 3 1/4" in diameter, 5 3/4" in height
Condition: Great condition for their age and usage. Bubbles in the heavy glass occurred very often during the early to middle 1800's due to the impurities used in the glass making process. The glasses are very clean, with no clouding, repairs, stains, or obvious cracks. There are some bubbles, some very small chips on some of the design edges, and the frosted leaf glass has three vertical hairline cracks fairly evenly distributed around the body. These are very thin lines, with no separation or displacement, and they do not go through to the outside of the glass nor through to the top of the rim.
The Flint Magnet and Grape Goblet has some air bubbles in the base of the glass.
The Flint Ribbed Ivy - has some small chips on the understand of the base of the glass.
Flint Cameo and Garland - has a few air bubble in the base of the glass
McGill - has an air bubble in the pedestal stem (I was unable to get a picture of it)
