This is a 5 dish set that is used for serving condiments or small discount foods, olives, nuts, fruits, cheese, crackers, etc. it originally had a round wooden tray underneath that would make it into a lazy Susan platter. That gray is no longer with it. This is in good condition for it's age, with only one chip on the central square dish as shown in the pictures. This type of blue and white porcelain was produced in Canton China in the 1700s and 1800s, it is sometimes called ballastware because it was used to weigh the ships coming out of China, who were one of the first major exporters of pottery. This type of pottery was so sturdy that George Washington preferred it over others from England and France. When you buy a serving platter like this you buy a piece of history.
