Product code: Antique Victorian French Cut Steel Buckle discount on Black Leather Cuff
Cut steel is polished steel faceted studs riveted to a steel backing. Popular from the mid 17th century through the 18th century, these became popular in France as a replacement for the fine diamond jewelry the French monarchy confiscated to discount pay for the 7 year war in 1759. This buckle is in excellent condition for it's age and is polished beautifully. I used soft black leather for the band edged with tiny glass beads. The closure is a snap. The buckle is 2 1/2" by 1 3/4". The cuff length is 7 1/2" and the width of the leather band is just short of 1 1/2". It's beautiful and an heirloom bracelet!
