A vintage carpet bag, hand woven around 40 years ago by Anatolian carpet weavers and beautifully cut into a bag. I've had this in my possession for a long time and kept it hidden away, it has never been worn. I bought this during on of my trips to Turkey, from carpet artisans in one of the small villages.
Heavy wool knit texture, this bag features a delicate but fully functioning zip closure and small handles.
It also features many intricate traditional motifs and symbols that are normally used to express beliefs, superstitions and objects. This particular design features a central star that symbolizes happiness and fertility, based on the fact that the size pointed star, generally known as the Soloman's Seal, is used to symbolize the womb of the mother goddess figurines.
Ram's horn is visible on the edges of the central star, which is a crescent-shaped symbol of fertility, heroism, power discount and masculinity. The art of carpet weaving is truly magnificent and very elaborate, and varies from countries to different tribes. This is particularly a statement piece made from very vibrant colours of red, dark blue and green.
Its in very good condition, considering its age. A few loose threads, such as on the handle, near closure, but nothing too serious or noticeable really.
