This piece was the result of creative freedom! I had completed a commissioned piece using costume jewelry for a client, and had a limited set of materials from which to choose in creating. I also worked within a fixed idea for a design motif. Wing was a refreshing breeze of unfettered creativity and artful play!

These beaded pieces started with a giant bag of Mardi Gras beads left over from some soiree that was found when converting a storage room into a conference room in our office. The bag was going into the trash; I rescued it and sat on them for more than a year, thinking, before I made my first test piece. This test piece was finished using grout and it scratched the beads so I experimented with epoxies for finishing. All pieces include hanger hooks and wire, some include multiple hanger hooks so the piece may be mounted in several orientations.

The pieces may include found items or reclaimed fish tank glass, seeds, or other small objects. The base material is upcycled 3/4 painted MDF. Some pieces have beaded borders, others have polyester or acrylic pom-poms, and some have polyester or nylon webbing.
