This genuine LAPIS scarab necklace is STERLING silver. It is a one of a kind.
The Lapis center stone is a 25 x 18 mm(1" x 3/4").
The Lapis beads are 8 mm.
The wire work is done in a lace look and is our original design.
The chain is original and is a graduating figure 8 style.
The length is 16 3/4" and it has a spring ring style clasp.

The scarab beetle was sacred to the ancient Egyptians. Any one of any importance had a coat of arms or signet, which was used in business transactions instead of signatures. They would engrave them onto a piece of genuine stone that was carved in the shape of a beetle.

Scarab jewelry became popular in the 1950's-60's, mainly in the form of bracelets and watchbands.The materials used were clay, porcelain, glass, plastic and minerals of the earth, AKA as genuine stones. It was the genuine stone ones that were most popular, valued and sought after. They were set in plated brass, gold-filled, sterling silver and gold.

Since the 1960's, scarab jewelry has re-surfaced in popularity.
