St Pauls Under Moody Sky - Original acrylic painting on birchwood art panel, early night time view of St Pauls Cathedral, impressionist art. I was inspired by a recent visit to London when I walked past St Pauls cathedral lit up in the moody night sky. I loved the blue grey shadows contrast against the flood lit highlights. Painted on to a birchwood A3 sized panel, I have left the sides of the panel clear show that the woo can be seen in contrasts to the dark tones of the painting.

I really enjoyed a more architectural painting as I usually paint seascapes and harbour scenes. I tried to capture the moodiness of the scene with dark rich grey and blue tones. I stated the painting by blocking in the sky with a large brush and built up the different tones of the sky with a dry brush to blend them together. I then using the edge of a palette knife to pick out the highlights and the shadow areas.

I have added a hanging wire to the back attached by two d rings, and given the painting a coat of matt varnish to protect the colours. This painting is unframed but can be hung as it is with the attached hanging wire. Signed and dated on the back discount
