Here is a gorgeous Nippon hand-painted pedestal sugar bowl with ornate side handles and lid. The white porcelain is decorated with pink roses and green leaves with gold moriage beads and swirls. It sits atop a yellow with gold gilt pedestal.
The condition is very good with no chips, cracks or crazing. A little of the gold has worn from the handles, see last photo, but not a surprise for a serving piece over one-hundred years old.
The bowl has a 3.5” diameter opening and stands 3” tall. Add another 2.5” for the lid and knob. The width handle-to-handle measures 7.25” and depth is 5”.
Backstamp: This very fancy fine-gage Japanese porcelain serving piece has the words “Nippon Hand Painted” and the Maple Leaf Nippon stamp in blue. This mark was used by Morimura Gumi from 1891 to 1911.
