This 10 inch Dutch oven from Birmingham Stove & Range was part of their Lady Bess collection which was manufactured beginning in 1976 in commemoration of America's bicentennial. The pieces in the Lady Bess collection originally came in a set packaged in a wooden crate. When putting a collection together, the Dutch oven is more difficult to come by. They are identifiable by the wooden handles on the skillets, and the unique pattern and size number on the bottom as illustrated in the photos. They did not come with lids, however they were sized to fit the various glass lids commonly available at the time. I have included a glass lid sourced from a local antique store marked USA-2. While the glass discount lids work, they are not as snug as a matched cast iron set. The Dutch oven is in excellent restored condition and is free of cracks, chips or pits. It has a small amount of movement in all directions which can be corrected with 3 sheets of printer paper, and spins ever so slightly. I did not include a photograph because the camera could not pick up the gap between the straight edge and the pan. I would estimate 1/32 inch. It measures 10 inches in diameter and 3-7/8 inches tall without the lid (6 inches with). It weighs 6 pounds 5 ounces alone and 8 pounds 9 ounces with the lid. Fully cleaned and re-seasoned, it is ready to use!
