Product code: 2 Steven Maslach Early 1978 Studio Art Glass VOLCANO Wine Glasses Goblets - RARE MCM Signed & Dated discount Stems

Offering a pair of stunning discount wine goblets by studio art glass pioneer Steven Maslach in his Volcano series. The Volcano pieces were mouthblown, made with ash from the Mt. Saint Helens volcanic eruption.

Steven Maslach was born in San Francisco, California in 1950. He studied glassblowing at the California College of Arts and Crafts under Marvin Lipofsky and Sam Herman in 1969 – 1970. He opened his own studio in 1971, and his work is included in all of the major glass collections in the US, including the Corning Glass Museum, the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA, and the Smithsonian Institute.

These two stems, made in the early period of the studio glass movement, are highly collectible today.

Signed "Maslach 10-78" on the foot.

Size: 7-3/4" high.

Condition: Mint - never used. One has an imperfection - a dip in the rim, shown in the close-up, from the time of the glassblowing. It is not a chip as it is smooth and the color is consistent with the rest. The same stem is slightly shorter than the other - natural variation that is one of the hallmarks of handmade art glass.
