Katalox discount Wood Wand - real wood!

Stunning real wood wand, carved from katalox wood here in the UK. Length is 36.2Cm or 14 1/4", maximum diameter around 24mm or just under 1". Yes, this is real wood - not plastic! You'll get the exact wand in the picture.

Hand finished, coated in Danish oil and then rubbed down with wax. Usually posted within 1 working day, time to the USA typically 10 days to 2 weeks. By default it will be sent without tracking, although this is available at checkout as an optional upgrade.

Katalox is a really interesting hardwood from Mexico, that has only recently become available on the market. It is dense, exceptionally strong, and hold details very well. It varies from dark brown, almost black, to a kind of pinkish brown. I have only recently started working with it and information is hard to come by, but from what I have observed, the wood is likely to get darker over time, as the freshly cut wood is significantly lighter than if it has been left for a couple discount of weeks. This is not uncommon for certain woods, and is caused by an oxidation reaction under UV light. Before finishing this wand, I left it for a while to let the colours change, so this process may have completed, but it would not surprise me if the wood turned darker in future months or years.

I designed these wands and make them on my computer controlled carving machine. This allows me to make shapes and designs that would not be possible to do by hand. The machine in question was completely designed and built by myself, from the ground up. A simple sentence which hides so much complexity! But in the end, it means that I can test and tweak my designs until they are exactly where I want them, giving me the ability to make wands that are only the highest possible quality.
