Serial No - 284688 It records well through the Line In socket and plays back well through the headphone socket and through the Line Out into a powered speaker. I don't have a mic to test the mic input. Volume slider is smooth and quiet - no crackles. The variable speed tune function works. FF and REW don't work but I can hear a motor working when FF or REW is selected so maybe just a belt problem. It is an ex BBC machine and, according to a sticker on the base “PHANTOM MOD OK”, it has a Phantom power modification to enable use of a professional condenser microphone. I can't verify this.
