Original, vintage, signed, A.Santini bonded marble VENUS sculpture. It is a reproduction of Allegrain's "The Bather" (also called "Venus", carved in 1767), currently housed in the Louvre museum, Paris. The statue is made of a mix of crushed marble (Carrera) and resin, cast, then finished by hand. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Not sure of the exact year of production on this sculpture. I purchased this in Florence Italy at a year sale in 1995. The sellers were older and moving so do not know age. This particular statue appears to be more of a uniform cream color Amilcare Santini sculptures represent some of the most prestigious museum quality lines of sculptures in the world. In fact, nothing comes closer to an original hand carved marble sculpture than these A. Santini replicas from Italy.
