Handmade, Engraved Art Deco or Arts and Crafts Period Antique Brass and Copper Curio or discount Jewelry Box
This is a tarnished and patina'd as found, primitive handmade Art Deco or Arts and Crafts era brass and copper box with hinged and strapped lid and engraved pattern across the top typical of the 1930's design motifs. It appears to be made completely without soldering as all parts are fitted together using handmade rivets, or 'cold connections', which create a strong join without the use of heat discount or solder. The interior shows a much tarnished finish, which I wiped slightly clean but left the significant patina to be enjoyed by the eventual buyer.
A very special piece that shows wear typical of age, with a beautiful warm feel common to the time. Reminds me of the designs of Arts and Crafts period, especially that of Frank Lloyd Wright.
Primitive and significantly aged patina with some dents/hammer marks. Very old and used.
