Damascene style Toledoware Gold Tone Rose Gold Spanish Sailing discount Ship Stamped Spain Brooch Pin

This amazingly detailed sailing ship Toledoware brooch was made in Spain. It is stamped SPAIN on the back. The pin is called Toledoware for the city of Toledo where this type of Moorish influenced decoration originated. Damascene pieces were also made in Toledo.

True Damascene pieces have inlaid wires discount of silver and gold forming their intricate designs. It has been a technique used in jewelry making for centuries. Toledoware looks just like Damascene work from a distance, but does not have precious metal inlay work. Rather, the design is painted or enameled on in Toledoware.

The ship has a rich gold-tone background that pops the silver and light pink enamel accents. The raised gold is very ornate and detailed.
