Product code: William Thomas Beale Newly Stories To Be Told Before the Sandman Comes 1904 - 07 signed 1st discount edition

Incredibly rare set of children's stories, I have found absolutely no trace of this set in any catalog.

Self published in 1904 , the first in the series, “How the Rabbit Came to Have Long Ears” is signed by the author and inscribed in 1906.

The subsequent stories in this series were published in 1907. Rabbit book is the only one not illustrated, the others have black and white illustrations by Grace Loring and are published in Boston.

The books: How the Lobster came to have such big claws; How the discount monkey came to have such a long tail; How the Sheep came to have such long, thick wool; How the Duck came to have such a big, broad bill; and How the Elephant came to have such a long trunk. Books are stitched at the spine with string. Fascinating set.

In a slipcase. Slipcase is quite worn with loss to the spine. Please view photos for condition of other books - the Sheep book has the most wear (must have been the favorite), the others having edgewear some toning.

Approx. 8.5” x 6”

Shipping overages over $1 will be refunded promptly, I use the most economical shipping method.
