Fabulous LARGE gold brooch | Baroque | Medieval | Fleur de lys | Dagger | Signed | Designer | Runway | Statement | discount Couture | 1980s
discount Very fabulous goldtone brooch in a baroque medieval style – in pristine condition.
This stunning brooch is really unusual and striking. It is quite large and eye catching, and is clearly inspired by medieval and baroque design. The brooch is in the shape of a dagger (or possibly a vial), topped with the distinctive shape of a fleur-de-lys. It looks to me like a statement piece made in the 1980s.
The brooch is made of a heavier base metal coated with a bright gold plating. This is a brilliant colour – still very bright and shiny – and gives the effect of being hammered or beaten gold.
Signed on the back with what looks like the intertwined letters 'V A' (but I can't quite tell, and haven't been able to find any further infomation about what these letters might mean - other than references to the Victoria and Albert Museum).
The brooch is just under 9 cm long and is 3.1 cm at its widest point.
In immaculate conditon, with no scratches, marks or tarnishing. The clasp is in good working order.
