This pitcher is part of an Arts & Crafts Studio Collection created as a study of the Arts and Crafts Movement of 1860 AD - 1910 AD. This period in art history was the first time pottery was considered an art form rather then simply a craft to make functional ware.
Factory workers were encouraged to add ornamentation and decorations from nature to add visual appeal to their work. Also, the signature turquoise glaze in a matte finish was also employed extensively as the distinguishing color of Arts & Crafts pottery.
This pitcher is styled after the great Arts & Crafts Movement in America's early 20th century. The Sapphire Float and Green Stone glazes stimulate your eye to contrast and deep richness as they blend, run, and interact with each other.
Destined to be a collector's item this one of a kind pitcher will look awesome no matter where it is displayed.
As seen in a photo above, the glaze ran to the shelf in one area causing a small section of the foot to be lost. There is no structural or functional loss though.
This piece is white stoneware, fired to cone 5. The glaze is lead-free and food safe. As will all fine art pottery, it is suggested to hand wash in mild detergent.
